Waiting on Wednesday
A weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that people are eagerly anticipating.
My choice for Waiting on Wednesday this week is:
Pretending to Be Erica by Michelle Painchaud
Publication: July
21st 2015 by Viking Juvenile
We Were Liars
meets Heist Society in a riveting debut!
Seventeen-year-old Violet’s entire life has revolved around one thing: becoming Erica Silverman, an heiress kidnapped at age five and never seen again. Violet’s father, the best con man in Las Vegas, has a plan, chilling in its very specific precision. Violet shares a blood type with Erica; soon, thanks to surgery and blackmail, she has the same face, body, and DNA. She knows every detail of the Silvermans’ lives, as well as the PTSD she will have to fake around them. And then, when the time is right, she “reappears”—Erica Silverman, brought home by some kind of miracle.
But she is also Violet, and she has a job: Stay long enough to steal the Silverman Painting, an Old Master legendary in the Vegas crime world. Walking a razor’s edge, calculating every decision, not sure sometimes who she is or what she is doing it for, Violet is an unforgettable heroine, and Pretending to be Erica is a killer debut.

The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes
Publication: June
9th 2015 by Dial/Penguin
When
seventeen-year-old Minnow stumbles out of the woods one winter morning, she is
haunted and handless and covered in someone else’s blood. She has just escaped
the strict religious commune run by a cruel man named the Prophet. In exchange
for freedom, she leaves behind her family, her home, and Jude--an outsider boy
who changed everything.
But the real world isn't the sanctuary Minnow imagined. Soon, she gets arrested and placed in juvenile detention. Now, Minnow is being questioned by an FBI psychiatrist about the night she escaped, the same night the Prophet was burned to death in his own home—a murder Minnow may be responsible for.
A modern retelling of the Grimm fairy tale, "The Handless Maiden," in which the Devil orders a girl's hands cut off, Minnow is the story of a girl growing out of the wreckage of corrupted faith.

I really want to read both of these books, but especially The Secret Lies of Minnow Bly. Great picks, and I hope you'll enjoy them. :)
